After Hours at Lush Creative Galleries, A Night of Art, Laughter and Shenanigans

There’s something special about walking into a familiar local space after hours. The lights feel different, the energy shifts, and you know you’re in for something a little out of the ordinary.
Recently, a small group of friends and I were lucky enough to experience exactly that at Lush Creative Galleries in Ganmain, arriving after hours for what we were told was a surprise. What unfolded was equal parts creative, hilarious and unexpectedly freeing.
The surprise? A live drawing class… with a twist.
Instead of a traditional nude model, our models were a collection of Barbies, posed dramatically, creatively and, at times, hilariously by the group. Think exaggerated stances, and some flexible, potentially questionable positions.
Under Linda’s guidance, we began with a series of quick drawing exercises. Each Barbie pose was timed, just a few minutes per sketch, encouraging us to loosen up, let go of perfection and simply draw what we saw. This exercise was repeated several times, helping us warm up creatively (with a little help from the wine, of course).
Once suitably relaxed and giggly, we moved on to our final task. Each of us chose a pose, sketched it onto canvas and brought it to life using acrylic paint.
None of us are artists, though most of us are creative in one way or another. What made the night so special was that we all started with the same brief, the same materials and the same subject, yet every finished piece looked completely different. It was a brilliant reminder that creativity isn’t about skill level, it’s about expression.
We brought our own nibbles and wine, shared plenty of laughs, and by the end of the evening had created what can only be described as terribly wonderful works of art. The kind you proudly hang at home because of the story behind them.
If you’re looking for a relaxed, local paint and sip experience with heart, humour and zero pressure, I can’t recommend Linda at Lush Creative Galleries, Ganmain enough. To book your session, email Linda at Lushcreativegalleries@gmail.com. Whether you go in confident or convinced you “can’t draw,” you’ll leave with a smile, a canvas and a memory you won’t forget anytime soon.
It truly was an unforgettable evening, and one we’re all still laughing about.

Signing off for another month. We hope to see you along the way.
